Carolyn McCall set to become new chief executive of ITV

Dame Carolyn McCall, chief executive of easyJet, is set to be appointed as head of ITV as early as Monday, as the UK's biggest commercial broadcaster ends its search for a successor to Adam Crozier. A former chief executive at Guardian Media Group, Dame Carolyn's experience of running a major media business as well as an international FTSE 100 company is expected to give her the edge over other contenders, such as Direct Line boss Paul Geddes and the head of Scottish broadcaster STV Rob Woodward. Dame Carolyn has been chief executive of easyJet for seven years. Dame Carolyn would be taking charge at ITV at a difficult time, with the UK TV advertising market heading for its worst year since the financial crash in 2009. Under Mr Crozier, who was in charge for seven years, ITV reduced its reliance on the advertising market by growing its production division.
