Claims that Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley once challenged an investment bank analyst to a drinking competition - and narrowly beat him by downing 12 pints plus vodka chasers, before vomiting into a pub fireplace - come as no shock to the Lombard column. Not because any of the antics described to the high court on Monday may be condoned. No, simply because it explains so much about the quality of analysts' early morning notes.
