TalkTalk looks to hang up on its mobile business

TalkTalk is exploring an exit from its mobile operations, after opening talks with other providers over the future of the business. TalkTalk had planned to beef up the wireless service as part of 'Project Thunder', which would have seen it build its own mobile infrastructure and systems to provide a new growth area. TalkTalk has been discussing a deal with mobile operators, where it would sell their Sim cards alongside its broadband packages, offering a discount to those who buy both. A quarter of its broadband base takes mobile as well, which generates higher average revenues per user for TalkTalk. TalkTalk said it remained committed to its mobile base, despite shifting its telecoms focus to fixed-line connectivity.
