Dixons Carphone: dunk and disorderly
The goods sold by Dixons Carphone range from iPhones to washing machines - everything but the kitchen sink. The problems announced by Dixons Carphone are not particularly new. Revisionist criticism of former management ignores a 3 per cent year-on-year sales rise and the company's dominant market position in the UK. Profits in the international business, which accounts for about 40 per cent of revenues, are rising. The difference is that Dixons Carphone has confounded the market optimism that was building ahead of full-year results expected next month. Mr Baldock, formerly of Shop Direct, was expected to shake up Dixons Carphone.
