TalkTalk remains cheap cheap to compete with BT and Virgin
TalkTalk added 192,000 net new customers in the year to March 31 - including a record, and forecast-busting, 109,000 in the fourth quarter alone. Trading screens showed that 9 per cent share price rise was only 0.4 per cent by market close. Wholesale business customers are cheaper to service than retail customers - making faster gains here no disadvantage. Even after offloading its directly-billed business-to-business customers to rival Daisy, TalkTalk will retain the wholesale operation, and gain £175m of proceeds to further pay down debt. TalkTalk still faces a competitive threat from BT, Virgin and Sky.
