Vodafone puts Huawei rollout in core networks on hold
Vodafone has "Paused" the deployment of Huawei equipment in its core networks in Europe until Western governments resolve security concerns about the Chinese telecoms giant. Huawei is under scrutiny over its ties with the Chinese government and allegations that its technology could be used for spying. The Chinese firm has consistently denied those allegations. Vodafone chief executive Nick Read said that debate was "Too simplistic". He said: "We have decided to pause further Huawei in our core whilst we engage with the various agencies and governments and Huawei just to finalise the situation, of which I feel Huawei is really open and working hard."
