Goals Soccer Centres hits back at Sports Direct

Goals Soccer Centres hit back at Sports Direct on Friday after its major shareholder confirmed that it would vote against the reappointment of the entire board due to a "Loss of confidence". On Friday, Sports Direct urged the board of Goals to agree to its requests to appoint Kroll, the corporate investigator, to carry out a "Cradle to grave" probe into the company's finances. Mr Ashley's group said on Friday: "A substantial amount of the information that will be required by Kroll will already be available, and this investigation should start without any further delays." Sports Direct said it would fund all costs in connection with the Kroll report. Sports Direct said it "Understands that these advisers are a division of the company's auditors". Dismissing Sport Direct's call to appoint Kroll, Goals said it was "Not appropriate and not in shareholders' best interests", given that it would be "Disruptive" to the investigations already under way and would delay its audit for the financial year ending December 31 2018.
