City Bulletin: Unilever outlines plan to unify as UK Plc

Two years ago, Unilever abandoned plans to end its dual-headed Anglo-Dutch legal structure after an outcry from shareholders. CMC Markets, one of the beneficiaries of the recent boom in online trading, said that its net operating income almost doubled in the year to March. Pre-tax profits went from £6m a year ago to £99m. Client income from the first quarter of the new fiscal year was about twice the level of a year ago, the company added. The speciality chemicals group said it planned to axe 2,500 jobs over three years to deliver cost savings of £80m a year by 2023. Revenues at the "Big five" football leagues in England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France rose to a record €17bn in the 2018-19 season, up from €15.6bn a year earlier, according to an annual review of football finance by Deloitte.
