Waitrose launches delivery trial with Deliveroo

Upmarket British supermarket chain Waitrose is launching a trial with Deliveroo as the restaurant delivery company increases its reach into groceries on the back of the pandemic. The two companies said in statement that Deliveroo users would be able to buy a limited range of 500 Waitrose grocery products for delivery in as little as 30 minutes from selected locations. A 12-week trial will operate from Waitrose stores in Bristol, Bracknell, Cambridge, Notting Hill and Surbiton, reaching up to half a million households. Consumers pay for delivery - up to £4.99 for Waitrose products - while the retailer pays a commission. Waitrose has increased its own delivery capacity from the current 160,000 orders per week to 250,000.
