Channel 4 names former Shine head as new CEO
Channel 4 has appointed Alex Mahon as its new chief executive - the first woman to run the publicly owned broadcaster and the first to run one of the UK's big four TV channels. Ms Mahon is currently chief executive of Foundry, a global visual effects and virtual reality company. Before joining Foundry in 2015 she ran Shine Group, the TV production company behind hit shows such as Masterchef. She will take over from David Abraham, who will leave in the autumn after seven years in charge. Charles Gurassa, Channel 4's Chair said: "Alex is an outstanding leader and a highly experienced CEO who has developed and grown major international businesses in both the creative and technology sectors. She brings an impressive combination of relevant experience and is brilliantly placed to help steer Channel 4 through the competitive challenges and opportunities ahead.".
