BT loses another senior executive after torrid year
BT has lost another top level executive as part of an overhaul of its regulatory functions in the wake of its disastrous performance this year. Mr Williams' departure is the latest step in an overhaul at the top of BT, which has seen the company replace its finance director, chairman and heads of corporate affairs and investor relations in the past 18 months. One source briefed on the situation said that although BT had eventually settled on an agreeable outcome, it had "Seriously mismanaged" the process by underestimating the determination of Sharon White, chief executive of Ofcom, to force change on Openreach. BT declined to comment on Mr Williams' departure. Mr Williams, a former Ofcom board director, was hired in 2008 by Gavin Patterson, now BT's chief executive, who was then head of the consumer arm.
