Devialet and Sky join forces in sound system deal
French sound technology company Devialet has teamed up with satellite broadcaster Sky in its first external partnership as the group, which counts rapper Jay Z among its shareholders, tries to access a wider range of customers with its high-end audio equipment. Devialet and Sky announced on Thursday that they are to create a new all-in-one sound system called Sky Soundbox, which will make Devialet's sound available to millions of Sky customers across the UK and Ireland. Stephen van Rooyen, chief executive officer of Sky UK and Ireland, said: "Great TV deserves great audio - we believe Sky Soundbox is the Ultra HD of home audio." Devialet started out 10 years ago using technology to reduce the size and cost of audio equipment. Devialet's partnership with Sky comes as the French tech scene is trying to prove it can grow more of its start-ups into international success stories.
