UK telecoms giant EE expands retail presence with Argos, Sainsbury’s deal
EE will expand its retail presence to 700 locations after expanding a deal to build concessions within Argos and Sainsbury's stores. The mobile phone company has had a small presence within 20 Argos stores since last year and has moved to rapidly expand the partnership. Argos and Sainsbury's stores are often in retail parks where EE does not have its own shops according to Marc Allera, chief executive, meaning it can reach more customers. Some customers will need to pass through the Sainsbury's, into the Argos and then onto the EE counter to buy a phone. The move comes as some telecoms companies reduce their presence on the high street with Virgin Media cutting 30 stores this month.
