The sector deploys roughly 50m agency workers each year, according to the World Employment Confederation, the industry body. Europe, the region that was most hostile to these disrupters, is now the second-biggest temp agency market in the world. The rest of the labour market has been so rigid in France that demand has remained high for the employment agencies' flexible workers, in spite of the extra costs.
