Asos praises ‘exceptional’ UK growth despite ‘challenging’ market
Sales growth at Asos' core UK business improved in the last few months of 2017, with the company reporting an "Exceptional performance" despite worries over an economic slowdown that hurt some of its rivals. Total retail sales in the four months to December 31 increased 30 per cent compared to the same period a year ago - the top end of its full-year growth target - to £790m.Recommended. That included a 23 per cent year on year increase in what the company described as a "Challenging" UK market. In the same period the previous year UK sales had grown just 18 per cent. Asos' rapid growth in recent years has seen it become the most valuable company on London's junior Aim market, and it is now worth more than FTSE 100 rivals like Marks & Spencer.
