French Connection soars as retailer mulls ‘strategic options’

French Connection rose 36.4 per cent in early London trading, after the UK-based global fashion brand said over the weekend that it was reviewing strategic options. The clothing group confirmed on Saturday that one of the options was a sale of the company. The retailer's major shareholders are companies controlled by Stephen Marks, who founded it in 1969, and Sports Direct, the sportswear chain controlled by Mike Ashley.
