Facebook blames server tweak for blackout issues
Facebook has said that a "Server configuration change" was to blame for the worst outage in its history. "Yesterday, we made a server configuration change that triggered a cascading series of issues," facebook said. "We have resolved the issues and our systems have been recovering over the last few hours." Commentators have questioned the length of time it took the social network to issue an explanation for the disruption, which affected advertisers who have marketing campaigns on the platform as well as consumers. Some early reports suggested that the social network could be under cyber-attack, something that Facebook was quick to deny on rival platform Twitter.
