Primark targets Chicago for next stage of US growth

Primark is to open a new store in Chicago as it becomes more confident that its growing pains in the US are over. The store will be the second outside the Baltimore to Boston corridor where Primark concentrated its initial foray into the US. It is due to open a store in Florida in 2020. Philip Green's Arcadia group is closing its remaining Topshop stores in the US and Primark cut the space at several of its stores in 2017 in order to improve sales density. Sales "Remain weak", he said, but the company remained committed to opening new stores in Bonn and Kiel. "We have slightly more than tripled the size of our existing store in Birmingham. . . It's proved to be a very big draw," said Mr Bason.
