JD Wetherspoon: ale and hearty
Hey you! Listen! Tim Martin, mullet-haired founder of pub group JD Wetherspoon, is back on his soapbox. In an industry struggling to deliver any kind of growth, Wetherspoons has just posted a sparkling 7.4 per cent increase in sales. Food's share of sales has doubled since 2000 to 36 per cent this year. Wetherspoons' share price has more than doubled since the 2016 referendum, rising over six times as much as the FTSE 100 index. Wetherspoon shares have not been pumped up by bid talk - real or imagined.
