The former Facebook employee had handed over internal documents to the Wall Street Journal newspaper, which ran a series of news stories in September about Facebook's inner workings. "There needs to be greater transparency on the decisions companies like Facebook take when they trade off user safety for user engagement," he said. Facebook has firmly pushed back against all the allegations against it, saying Ms Haugen "Mischaracterised... stolen documents" and the Wall Street Journal's series of reports were misleading.
