Aviva seeks digital disruption in Hong Kong as well as Hoxton

Digital disruption and fintech innovation take unlikely forms in Hong Kong. Aviva already has a stake in Zhong-An - which provides those polices to the frustrated, overheated and inebriated in airport lounges across China. If Aviva says it is selling FPI in order to "Reallocate capital to businesses with leading market positions", does that mean its strategy is now to offer gimmicky general insurance products, like Zhong-An? For those already in possession of an Aviva smartphone app, sadly not. Less than 1 per cent of life insurance sales in Hong Kong are made digitally. Aviva has attracted some ribbing for its UK "Digital garage" unit, apparently staffed by craft-beer sipping hipsters in Hoxton, London.
