Aviva faces questions over growth prospects
"Until now, the growth story in Aviva hasn't been as compelling as it has in Legal & General and Prudential. Mark Wilson is always bullish, but being bullish is not enough to drive the share price forwards," said Mr Gunn, who owns shares in all three companies. The company is targeting earnings growth in mid-single digits over the medium term. Aviva is likely to use the investor day in Warsaw to show where it thinks it can find that growth. In a recent discussion with analysts at Bernstein, Mr Wilson said: "Poland's like Asia was 15 years ago," and also pointed to growth prospects in Turkey and Ireland. Aviva in May announced plans to repurchase £300m of its shares by the middle of December.
