Aviva grabs key staff in move on ailing SLA

Aviva Investors, the £353bn fund management arm of the UK insurer, has made a grab for the equities business of ailing Scottish manager Standard Life Aberdeen. The move follows Aviva's capture in January of David Cummings, formerly head of equities at Standard Life Investments. "These hires will enhance our ability to offer compelling equity propositions for wholesale and institutional investors, as well as strengthening idea generation for our broader range of investment solutions," said Euan Munro, chief executive of Aviva Investors, who made his name by launching the Gars fund at Standard Life. The Aviva hires include: Mikhail Zverev, head of global equities; Alistair Way, head of global emerging market equities; Henry Flockhart and Adam McInally, UK equity portfolio managers; Jaime Ramos Martin and Ross Mathison, global equities portfolio managers, and Jonathan Taub and Will Malcolm, global emerging markets portfolio managers. All held similar roles at SLA. Stephanie Niven is joining as a global equities portfolio manager from Tesco Pension Investment and will be based in London.
