Jeremy Kyle Show suspension adds to ITV woes

ITV has suspended production of the popular daytime television programme The Jeremy Kyle Show and launched an internal review following the death of a participant. The production suspension, along with the removal of past shows from ITV's on-demand web service ITV Hub, follows the death of a participant about a week after the show in which they featured was filmed. "Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show a week after the recording of the episode they featured in, and our thoughts are with their family and friends," the broadcaster said. The TV show is made by ITV Studios, the broadcaster's in-house production arm. Data from Thinkbox, the trade body for commercial broadcasters, showed no episode of The Jeremy Kyle Show among ITV's top 50 programmes by viewers for the week to May 5.
