New BP boss gathers his most trusted turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles were comic-book heroes who banded together to jump high, kick butt and battle evil. Bernard Looney, new chief executive of BP, was turtle to former BP supremo Lord Browne in the noughties. Now Mr Looney is collecting his own band of older, greyer turtles around him. He replaces Liverpudlian Brian Gilvary, longtime BP finance chief, who will retire a few months after Bob Dudley, longtime BP chief executive, leaves. Mr Looney can't afford to withdraw into his shell and it will help to have other turtles around him who share his vision and protect his neck.
