Microsoft acquires Fallout creator Bethesda
Xbox owner Microsoft has acquired ZeniMax Media, the parent company of the video games studio Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda's teams are behind many hugely popular titles including Fallout, Doom, Quake and The Elder Scrolls. The deal is worth $7.5bn. In a statement, head of XBox Phil Spencer said the two firms "Shared similar visions for the opportunities for creators and their games to reach more players in more ways". Microsoft's new Xbox console, the Xbox Series X, is due to launch on 10 November.
