Ofwat to launch fresh hunt for new chair
England and Wales water regulator Ofwat is to extend its chair's contract as it launches a fresh hunt for a successor at the same time as it seeks a new chief executive. Jonson Cox, who has been chair of Ofwat since 2012, had been expected to leave in October, after his contract was previously extended by a year. The Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs confirmed that a fresh hunt for a new chair will be launched shortly. The prolonged search for a new chair at Ofwat follows a similarly drawn out process over who should chair the media regulator Ofcom. In June Thames Water, the UK's largest water company, appointed a former Ofwat chief executive Cathryn Ross as strategy and regulatory affairs director.
